Fatal Pedestrian Collision Under Investigation in Greenbelt

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred Tuesday night on Greenbelt Road. According to a press release from the department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit, the incident happened at approximately 9:20 p.m. in the 7500 block of Greenbelt Road. The name of the deceased pedestrian has not been released pending family notification.

The initial investigation revealed that a scooter rider was traveling eastbound when the pedestrian was struck. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, while the scooter rider sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. “The striking driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” the press release stated.

The Prince George’s County Police Department oversees investigations of fatal crashes within the city of Greenbelt and is urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit at 301-731-4422.
