Suffolk County Police Continue Search for Home Invader Who Attacked Elderly Woman

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – The Suffolk County Police Department’s Seventh Squad detectives are probing two recent residential burglaries in Mastic Beach, where two elderly women were assaulted. The incidents have raised concerns in the community and prompted an active investigation to identify and apprehend the suspect.

On October 10, at around 4 a.m., a male intruder accessed a residence through an unlocked window and assaulted a 78-year-old woman. A week later, on October 17, a similarly described individual broke into another home in Mastic Beach, assaulting a 75-year-old woman at approximately 12:40 a.m. Thankfully, both victims received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries.

Chief of Detectives John Rowan publicized a description and sketch of the suspect during a press conference in Yaphank, urging the community to remain vigilant. The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male, roughly 30 years old, standing between 5 feet 2 to 5 feet 6 inches tall with an athletic build, and was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt.


The police department is encouraging anyone with pertinent information regarding the burglaries to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All tips will be kept confidential. For reporting suspicious activity, residents are advised to call 911, underlining the importance of community cooperation in ensuring neighborhood safety.
