GLOUCESTER TWP., NJ — A head-on collision at Berlin Cross Keys Road and Johnson Road intersection resulted in a vehicle fire and five people injured. The incident occurred at 3:02 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, when Gloucester Township Police were dispatched.
Firefighters from Lambs Terrace Fire Company and Gloucester Township Police Officers removed all occupants safely before one of the vehicles became fully engulfed in flames.
The fire was quickly extinguished.
Inspira EMS & Ground Transport BLS and Virtua ALS units treated the drivers and passengers with injuries ranging from minor to serious but not life-threatening. An adult and two juveniles were transported to Cooper University Hospital, while two juvenile victims were taken to Jefferson Washington Township.
The initial investigation indicates that a Gray Subaru Impreza was traveling westbound when the driver of a White Honda Pilot, going eastbound, abruptly attempted a left turn onto Johnson Road, resulting in the collision. The names of those involved are being withheld pending notifications and further investigation.
The Gloucester Township Police Traffic Safety Unit (TSU) leads the inquiry. The accident caused road closures and lane reductions for about an hour.
