CUMBERLAND, MD — Mountainside Home Realty and Thomas Cumberland are teaming up this October to collect donations and sponsor adoptions for the Allegany County Animal Shelter (ACAS).
Mountainside Home Realty has announced that during the month of October, the realty company will collect pet food and other essential items for ACAS. Those who wish to contribute can contact the realty office for pickup of donations.
Thomas Cumberland, a local car dealership, is also participating in a unique way. On Saturday, October 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the dealership will host a pet adoption event. For every pet adopted during the event, Thomas Cumberland will donate $100 to ACAS, up to a maximum of $3,100.
ACAS, the only municipal no-kill shelter in Maryland, is also inviting community members to volunteer at the shelter. Prospective volunteers can apply through the shelter’s website.
Moreover, ACAS offers a “Hounds Around Town” program, which enables community members to take a shelter dog out for a day of outdoor activity or relaxation. The program aims to provide a break for the dogs from their kennels, offering them socialization and enrichment.
Both initiatives come as ACAS is actively seeking additional support and community involvement to continue its no-kill mission and provide for the needs of the animals in its care.
