NEW YORK – Skyline Provisions, Inc., based in Harvey, Ill., has initiated a recall of approximately 5,620 pounds of raw ground beef products. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall due to potential foreign object contamination.

The affected ground beef products, produced and packed on Aug. 19, 2023, include:

  • 20-lb. boxes of “SKYLINE PROVISIONS, INC. GROUND BEEF 81/19” with “ITEM # 000248” on the label.
  • 20-lb. boxes of “SKYLINE PROVISIONS, INC. GROUND BEEF 75/25” with “ITEM # 000293” on the label.

These products bear the establishment number “EST. 19300” inside the USDA mark of inspection and were distributed to institutions in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin.

The recall follows a customer complaint about a foreign object found in the beef during food preparation. No adverse reactions have been reported. FSIS has not received additional reports of injury or illness. They advise institutions in possession of these products not to serve them and to either discard them or return them to the place of purchase.
