Suspects Sought in Armed Robbery at Newark Pizza Hut

NEWARK, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé has issued a public request for assistance in identifying four suspects involved in an armed robbery at a local Pizza Hut. The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at approximately 10:23 p.m., in the 400 block of Lyons Avenue.

According to the report, a Black male suspect entered the Pizza Hut and demanded money from the cash register at gunpoint. When the cashier fled the scene, the suspect approached a second employee, who also escaped and secured himself in another part of the establishment. The suspect then turned to the customers, demanding money from them.

Two suspects were observed fleeing the establishment on foot. Two additional suspects, believed to be associated with the first two, are also being sought for questioning in relation to this incident.


The Newark Police Department has provided detailed descriptions of the suspects:

  • Suspect #1: Black hooded sweatshirt, blue sweatpants, white Air Force One (Nike) sneakers.
  • Suspect #2: All-black clothing, black and white Nike Dunks sneakers.
  • Suspect #3: All-black clothing, white and gray sneakers, and a blue surgical mask.
  • Suspect #4: Blue Nike sweatshirt, black face mask, blue jeans, dark-colored Jordan sneakers.
