BRONX, NY – Tajanhae Brown, 24, of East 163rd Street in the Bronx, was arraigned today on multiple charges, including attempted assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced the indictment, stemming from Brown allegedly administering anti-seizure medication to her 3-year-old daughter, who did not have epilepsy.

The child was admitted to Montefiore Children’s Hospital between May 2 and 3, 2023, with toxic levels of seizure medication in her system. Despite being informed of the toxic levels, Brown allegedly continued to give the medication to her daughter, risking serious medical complications.

Investigations revealed that from her daughter’s birth in May 2019 until May 2023, Brown had taken her to 15 different medical providers over 190 times, falsely reporting medical symptoms and conditions. Brown faces charges of first-degree attempted assault, second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, and endangering the welfare of a child. She is due back in court on February 7, 2024, and is currently under electronic monitoring with supervised release conditions.

This case highlights the serious nature of parental decisions affecting child health and the legal consequences of endangering a child’s welfare.
