NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for 31-year-old Christopher Augustine in connection with a credit card theft that took place on July 12, 2023. The incident occurred at the TD Bank located at 356 Springfield Avenue.

The victim, who was attempting to make a cash deposit at the bank’s drive-thru ATM at around 8:45 p.m., discovered that the machine did not accept cash deposits. After moving her vehicle to use the bank’s indoor ATM, she realized she had left her debit card in the drive-thru machine. Upon returning, she found a male driver at the ATM and subsequently noticed that $1,000 had been withdrawn from her account. A confrontation ensued between the victim and the male driver, who denied using her debit card, before he drove away from the scene.

Detectives have since identified Christopher Augustine as the primary suspect. Augustine, who has known addresses in Newark and Brooklyn, is described as being 5’6” tall and weighing 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He faces charges of theft, credit card theft, and unlawful use of a credit card.

The issuance of the arrest warrant follows a thorough investigation by the Newark Police detectives. The department is actively seeking information on Augustine’s whereabouts and urges anyone with knowledge of his location to come forward.
