Allentown Student Arrested After Bringing Gun to School

ALLENTOWN, PA – On Tuesday, the collaborative effort between the Allentown Police Department and Allentown School District security led to the apprehension of a student for firearm possession at Dieruff High School.

On Tuesday morning, local authorities received a report of a student potentially carrying a firearm within the school. The suspect was located outside the school premises by a School Resource Officer and district security personnel.

The student, a 17-year-old male, faces several charges including possession of a firearm with an altered manufacturer’s number, minor in possession of a firearm, and carrying a firearm without a license.


The case will proceed in Lehigh County Juvenile Court.

The district emphasizes the importance of information sharing in maintaining school safety, asking community members to use the District’s Anonymous Tip line or contact emergency services as needed.
