Crime Alert: Vandalism and Vehicle Burglaries in Smithville, Galloway Township

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Galloway Township Police Department has issued a crime watch alert, specifically focusing on the Smithville and Leeds Point sections of the township. Over the past five days, there have been numerous reports of vandalism and motor vehicle burglaries in these areas.

On the morning of December 24th, residents of North Cavesson Drive reported several burglaries to their motor vehicles. These incidents appear to have taken place overnight between December 23rd and December 24th. The burglaries targeted unlocked cars, with the perpetrator(s) stealing varying amounts of currency from each vehicle.

Additionally, since December 22nd, the police have received multiple reports of vandalism. This vandalism primarily involves suspects throwing eggs at residences and vehicles during the overnight and early morning hours. Affected areas include Kensington Drive, Revere Court, Leeds Point Road, Manning Court, and other neighborhoods.


Chief Richard Barber of the Galloway Township Police Department urges residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, especially during late-night hours. The department emphasizes the importance of community involvement in deterring crime and assisting in ongoing investigations.
