TRENTON, MI – George Mandarakas, 36, faces charges of attempted kidnapping following a series of incidents involving his ex-girlfriend, as per a federal complaint from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan.

The complaint details that Mandarakas and the woman, whom he met at the University of Notre Dame in 2019, ended their relationship on October 1. This was after the woman discovered Mandarakas had lied about his age. Despite her insistence on no further contact, Mandarakas traveled from New Jersey to Trenton, Michigan, where she lived.

Mandarakas reportedly sent numerous text messages and made several calls to the woman. A confrontation occurred at a park, where Mandarakas allegedly blocked her from returning to her vehicle and interfered with her attempt to shut her car door.

On November 22, another encounter took place when Mandarakas approached the woman as she left a salon. Surprised by his knowledge of her whereabouts, she tried to leave, but Mandarakas attempted to stop her from closing her car door and began to propose with a diamond ring before she managed to drive away.

Mandarakas’s arrest revealed his possession of a stun gun, ropes, and maps, suggesting a plan to possibly flee to Cuba or Morocco.
