MEEKER COUNTY, MN – Bryan William Demarais, 35, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of his wife, 29-year-old Kayla Demarais. The incident occurred in their home on December 28, as reported by the Meeker County Sheriff’s office.

According to a press release, deputies responded to an emergency call around 10:15 a.m. at a residence in the 22000 block of 713th Avenue. Bryan Demarais, who made the call, told the dispatcher, “I would like to report a murder,” and admitted to shooting his wife during an argument.

The probable cause affidavit, obtained by Minneapolis NBC affiliate KARE, reveals that Bryan Demarais used a .22 caliber handgun to shoot his wife multiple times in the head. Concerned for their two children, an 8-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy, he requested that they be removed from the house through a bedroom window to avoid seeing their mother’s body.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found Bryan Demarais exiting the house and took him into custody. Inside, they discovered Kayla Demarais with gunshot wounds to the head and pronounced her dead at the scene.
