NEWARK, DE – The Delaware State Police arrested 42-year-old Jacklyn Thompson of Newark for felony theft. The arrest followed an incident involving the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and theft of antique silverware.

On January 2, 2024, at about 8:59 PM, troopers responded to a report at a residence on the 7000 block of Armiger Drive, Seaford. An 81-year-old man reported that Thompson, whom he and his wife had met at church and assisted during her homelessness, failed to return their vehicle as agreed. The couple had previously provided shelter and paid for hotel rooms for Thompson and her children.

Further investigation revealed that on January 5, 2024, the man reported missing antique silverware belonging to his grandmother. Troopers discovered that Thompson had pawned these items. Warrants were obtained for Thompson’s arrest, and she was apprehended on January 6, 2024, in New Castle County.

Following her arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 2, Thompson was released on a $2000 unsecured bond.
