PSE&G Braces for Severe Weather with Heavy Rain and Strong Winds

NEWARK, NJ – January 8, 2024: PSE&G is gearing up for another storm expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds across its service area this week. This comes after the recent wintry weather, with forecasts predicting rainfall exceeding 3 inches in certain areas and potential flooding. The utility company also anticipates hazardous wind gusts ranging from 40 to 60 MPH, which could result in fallen trees, branches on wires, and power outages.

PSE&G is taking proactive measures to ensure preparedness for the storm. Crews are conducting system and logistics checks, ensuring the availability of essential materials and supplies. “We are closely monitoring the weather front and are prepared for potential system impacts,” said John Latka, senior vice president of PSE&G Electric Operations, Transmission & Distribution. Crews will be on duty 24/7, ready to restore services as soon as weather conditions allow, focusing on safe and efficient restoration of any outages.

Following the lessons of Superstorm Sandy, PSE&G has been enhancing its infrastructure to protect utility services from extreme weather. These upgrades have contributed to PSE&G’s recognition as one of the most reliable utility companies in the nation, with J.D. Power awarding them number one in customer satisfaction in December 2023.
