Teens Arrested in Connection with Atlantic City Shooting

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of two 16-year-old boys today in connection with a fatal shooting in Atlantic City.

The shooting occurred just before 11 p.m. on January 5th, on the 3300 block of Atlantic Avenue. Atlantic City police discovered two boys with gunshot wounds, one on the sidewalk and the other on the road. A 14-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to AtlantiCare Medical Center, City Division. He tragically passed away at the hospital the following afternoon, and his death has been ruled a homicide.

One of the arrested teens is currently detained at Harborfields Atlantic Youth Center in Egg Harbor City, while the other is held at the Essex County Youth Detention Center in Newark.


The first teen faces charges including second-degree aggravated assault for discharging a firearm at another person, fourth-degree pointing a firearm at someone, second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm without a permit.

The second arrested teen faces similar charges, including second-degree aggravated assault, second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm without a permit.

The investigation into the 14-year-old’s death is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events leading to this tragic incident.
