Newark Police Seek Suspect Who Shot Two Teens on South Orange Avenue

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are searching for a man who shot two children. On Thursday, January 11, Newark Police received a report of a shooting incident at approximately 2:49 p.m. in the 300 block of South Orange Avenue. Officers at the scene found two injured juveniles, a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, both suffering from gunshot wounds.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting occurred following a dispute involving the boy and two male individuals who entered the establishment. One of the individuals discharged a firearm, striking both juveniles. The victims were promptly transported to University Hospital and are currently in stable condition.

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is actively seeking the public’s assistance to identify the suspect, who escaped the scene by heading east on South Orange Avenue.
