Oklahoma Federal Court Announces Multiple Criminal Indictments

United States Attorney Clint Johnson has revealed the outcomes of the January 2024 Federal Grand Jury B session, resulting in multiple indictments for violations of U.S. law.

Key indictments include:

Miguel Acuna-Segura: Charged with unlawful reentry of a removed alien. Acuna-Segura, a 40-year-old Mexican national, allegedly reentered the U.S. unlawfully after removal in May 2011. The case, prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Buscemi, is investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations. Case number 24-CR-020.


Kenneth Alejandro Cruz-Bustillo: Facing charges for unlawful possession of a firearm as an illegal alien. Cruz-Bustillo, 27, a Honduras national, was allegedly in possession of a firearm and ammunition in August 2023. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Tulsa Police Department are investigating. Assistant U.S. Attorney Shakema M. Onias is prosecuting. Case number 24-CR-019.

Roque Gaytan-Gonzalez: Charged with unlawful reentry of a removed alien. Gaytan-Gonzalez, 54, a Mexican national, allegedly reentered the U.S. after removal in August 2023. The case is handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Buscemi, with investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations. Case number 24-CR-013.

Jesus Alberto Monges Sanchez and Cassidy Stone: Charged with drug conspiracy, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and maintaining a drug-involved premises. Monges Sanchez, 32, a Mexican national, and Stone, 29, of Tulsa, allegedly conspired to distribute methamphetamine from October 2023 to January 2024. The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics are investigating, with Assistant U.S. Attorney David A. Nasar prosecuting. Case number 24-CR-024.

Manuel Manrrique Oviedo-Ucles: Accused of unlawful reentry of a removed alien. Oviedo-Ucles, 39, a Mexican national, reportedly reentered the U.S. after removal in August 2014. The case is investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Elliot P. Anderson. Case number 24-CR-014.

Rolando Palacios-Castorena: Facing charges for unlawful reentry of a removed alien. Palacios-Castorena, 36, a Mexican national, is alleged to have reentered the U.S. after removal in July 2017. The case is investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Buscemi. Case number 24-CR-015.

Timothy Danel Ray Smeltzer: Charged with assaulting an intimate/dating partner by strangling and suffocating in Indian Country, and assault resulting in serious bodily injury. Smeltzer, 35, of Nowata and a member of the Cherokee Nation Tribe, is accused of assaulting a former dating partner in December 2023. The FBI is the investigating agency, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Melissa Weems prosecuting. Case number 24-CR-016.

Megan Elizabeth Statum: Accused of possessing methamphetamine and fentanyl with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Statum, 32, of Tulsa, allegedly possessed these substances in December 2023. The Drug Enforcement Administration and Sand Springs Police Department are investigating, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam C. Bailey prosecuting. Case number 24-CR-017.

Aaron Michael Thomas and Darren Doil Means: Charged with introducing misbranded drugs into interstate commerce, drug conspiracy, possession of Pregabalin with intent to distribute, maintaining a drug-involved premises, and smuggling goods into the U.S. Thomas, 41, and Means, 58, of Tulsa, allegedly introduced misbranded drugs, including gabapentin, xylazine, and pregabalin, into interstate commerce from 2021 through 2023.
