Two Children Shot, Another Dead in Separate Wilmington Shootings

WILMINGTON, DE – A 23-year-old man was shot and killed in Wilmington’s Hilltop neighborhood, marking the first fatal shooting in Delaware for 2024.

The Wilmington Police Department reported that the incident occurred on the 300 block of N. Scott St. at approximately 3:11 p.m. on Monday. The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was found alive by officers but later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

In a separate but related incident, two children, a 14-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, were shot in a home in the Brandywine Hills neighborhood.


This incident happened less than an hour after the first shooting, at 3:53 p.m. on Monday, on the 500 block of W. 40th St. Both children were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition, according to the police.

The Wilmington Police Department is actively investigating both shootings. They ask anyone with information about the fatal shooting to contact Detective Brandon Mosley at 302-576-3646.
