Board Pulls Vote to Hire Connected Comish for Six Figure Job at Patronage Sinkhole MUA

JACKSON, NJ – The move to appoint Jackson MUA commissioner William Allman to the position of executive director and a $162,000 annyal salary did not go as planned Thursday night. The Jackson MUA commissioners pulled the measure prior to the meeting.

Resolution 2024 – 012, a resolution of the Jackson Township Municipal Utilities, “Authority Appointing an Executive Director to the Jackson Township Municipal Utilities Authority and Authorizing the Execution of up to a Three-Year Contract with the Appointee.” was not voted on.

The move comes after the Jackson Township council appointed a fifth member to the board of commissioners to ensure proper oversight. The measure at the Jackson Council to add another resident to the board passed in a 4-1 vote, with Councilman Nino Borrelli casting the lone dissenting vote.

Borrelli, whose political campaign was funded by and operated by MUA commission chairman William Allman and former MUA commissioner Clara Glory said there was no reason for additional oversight on that committee.

Under an alleged plan, after being appointed to six-figure job, the former treasurer would also be given a job at the commission. That rumor has been unconfirmed at this time.

Jackson Township Council President Jennifer Kuhn and Councilman Mordechai Burnstein were in attendance at the MUA meeting when the resolution to hire Allman was pulled.

While the move alludes that the commission sought to act in an unethical manner, it allows the remaining members to vote for Allman at the next meeting, removing Glory’s conflict of interest. Thursday night was Glory’s last meeting as a commissioner. She was not reappointed to the board. She was replaced by longtime Jackson resident and retired NYC police officer Richard Egan.

Township officials said tonight they intend to closely monitor the MUA commission to ensure the replacement for Harpell is above board and does not represent any perceived improprieties going forward.
