Suffolk County, NY – District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the indictment of Christopher Loeb, 37, of Smithtown, for Assault in the Second Degree and related charges. Loeb is accused of pushing an 89-year-old woman to the ground and throwing a metal plant stand at her, causing a fractured femur.
The incident, occurring on January 12, involved the victim finding Loeb in her kitchen, breaking various household items. The altercation escalated when Loeb allegedly pushed the victim to the ground and later threw the metal stand at her leg, resulting in significant injury.
Responding to the 911 call, police found the victim on the living room floor and Loeb upstairs, allegedly in possession of a broken table leg. He was arrested at the scene.
The victim received treatment at St. Catherine of Siena Hospital in Smithtown and remains in rehabilitative care.
Loeb was arraigned on January 25 before Acting Supreme Court Justice Steven A. Pilewski. He faces two counts of Assault in the Second Degree and one count of Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree. Bail was set at $75,000 cash, $150,000 bond, or $750,000 partially secured bond. Loeb, represented by Christopher Cassar, Esq., is due back in court on February 15.
