Cherry Hill, NJ – Firefighters were dispatched to Victory Apartments on Woodcrest Road Wednesday morning following a report of a building fire. Upon arrival, Cherry Hill Fire Department (CHFD) units encountered smoke on one of the floors of the apartment complex.

The incident was contained to a small fire in the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) unit of the apartment building. The building’s sprinkler system activated promptly, extinguishing the fire before it could extend beyond the HVAC closet.

Victory Apartments, currently under construction, were unoccupied at the time of the incident. The effective sprinkler system played a crucial role in preventing any further damage to the property. The incident underscores the importance of functional safety systems in buildings, especially during construction phases when they are most vulnerable to such hazards.

The CHFD has not reported any injuries or significant structural damage following the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
