Bay Shore, NY – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the indictment of Domenica Giordano, a 39-year-old resident of Islip Terrace, on charges of Grand Larceny in the First Degree. Giordano is accused of embezzling over $1 million from All Systems Maintenance, a Bay Shore-based commercial plumbing business, where she worked as a bookkeeper.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, and we take any form of theft from these entities extremely seriously,” said District Attorney Tierney. “Those who commit theft in Suffolk County will face full accountability.”
The indictment follows an investigation that began in May 2020 after the business owner noticed discrepancies and was unable to access corporate bank accounts. Despite requesting assistance from Giordano, her repeated avoidance led the owner to investigate personally, revealing unauthorized withdrawals exceeding $1 million, dating back to September 2015.
Investigators discovered that from 2015 to 2020, Giordano wrote checks to herself from company accounts without authorization, using a rubber stamp of the owner’s signature. She is alleged to have deposited these funds into her personal account and the accounts of a friend’s business. The stolen funds were also used to pay off personal and her friend’s credit card debts.
Giordano was arraigned before Supreme Court Justice John B. Collins on February 1, 2024, facing charges of Grand Larceny in the First Degree, a Class B felony. Justice Collins ordered Giordano’s release under supervised monitoring. Represented by attorney Richard Kaufman, Esq., Giordano is scheduled for her next court appearance on April 3, 2024.
