Wilmington Woman Arrested After Vehicle Pursuit and Officer Assault

WILMINGTON, DE – Delaware Natural Resources Police apprehended Deanna T. Long, 37, of Wilmington, Del., on Monday for multiple offenses, including felony charges, following a vehicle pursuit.

The incident began when a state park officer approached Long, who was using a hypodermic needle in a parked car at Fox Point State Park.

Upon contact, Long suddenly reversed her vehicle, striking the officer and initiating a chase that ended on a dead-end road in Wilmington.

Long faces charges including Resisting Arrest with Force or Violence, Disregarding a Police Officer Signal, and Vehicular Assault Second Degree, among others. She was arraigned and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $5,850 bond.

The state park officer received treatment for minor injuries.
