Southold Man Pleads Guilty After Cops Find Lewd Images of Children on Computer

SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced that James Gaffga, a 36-year-old resident of Southold, has pleaded guilty to 50 counts of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child.

This follows an indictment where Gaffga was found with a hard drive containing images and videos of child sexual abuse. The victims in these materials ranged in age from 18 months to 10 years.

On December 16, 2022, Gaffga was caught in possession of at least 50 distinct images and videos depicting child sexual abuse and lewd exhibition.


During his guilty plea, Gaffga admitted to viewing these materials and acknowledged their explicit content.

Gaffga’s guilty plea was entered before County Court Judge Karen M. Wilutis on Wednesday. Following a probationary pre-plea investigation, he was sentenced on the same day to 60 days in jail and 10 years of probation. Additionally, he is required to register as a sex offender.
