Cape May, NJ – Gerald White, 38, was sentenced to 25 years in New Jersey State Prison for his involvement in a deadly crash during an illegal car rally in Wildwood in September 2022. The sentencing took place in an emotional courtroom filled with friends and family members of the victims, Timothy Ogden, 34, and Lindsey Weakland, 18.

During the proceedings, the courtroom heard heart-wrenching statements from the victims’ families. One family member shared the profound loss and struggle of living without their loved one, while another questioned the worth of the senseless act that forever altered their lives. The impact of the tragedy was described as a profound and lasting darkness by those affected.

White had pleaded guilty in November, with the 25-year sentence being the recommendation from the prosecution at the time of his plea. The fatal incident occurred amid an unsanctioned weekend car rally. Authorities reported that White, under the influence and driving an Infiniti, caused multiple crashes. After striking a Honda Civic containing Timothy Ogden and Sarah Farmer, Ogden’s fiancée, and hitting pedestrian Lindsey Weakland among others, White attempted to flee the scene.

Despite the defense’s request for a reduced sentence of 15 years, the court upheld the 25-year sentence. White expressed remorse prior to sentencing, apologizing for the pain caused and urging others to learn from his story.

Under the plea agreement, White must serve at least 85% of his sentence before eligibility for parole, setting his potential parole date in 2045
