Manchester Police Captain Retires After Distinguished Career in Law Enforcement

Manchester Township, NJ – Lt. Christopher Hemhauser has retired from the Manchester Township Police Department, concluding a notable career as a dispatcher that began in 1996.

Chief Robert Dolan highlighted Lt. Hemhauser’s unwavering dedication and loyalty to both the agency and the community, recognizing his readiness to assist anyone in need.

Joining the force as a patrolman in 2001, Lt. Hemhauser brought with him an impressive educational background, holding a Bachelor’s Degree from Stockton University and a Master’s Degree from Farleigh Dickinson University. Throughout his career, he has served in various capacities, including as a Field Training Officer, a member of both the Manchester and Ocean County Regional SWAT teams for seven years, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Task Force, and the Manchester Police Honor Guard.


Lt. Hemhauser’s transition to the Investigations Bureau in 2006 marked the beginning of a series of promotions, culminating in his appointment as Lieutenant in 2020, where he oversaw both Patrol and Investigations divisions. His service has been recognized with numerous awards, including two Chief’s Awards, the Gallantry Star Award, and the Honorable Service Award, reflecting his commitment and contributions to law enforcement.

His recent work included leading the migration of the Spillman computer-aided dispatch system to a hosted solution, a critical project for the department. This endeavor, which required extensive hours and dedication, underscores Lt. Hemhauser’s significant impact on the department’s operational capabilities.
