Two Arrested on Gun Charges at Atlantic City Apartment Complex

Atlantic City, NJ – The Atlantic City Police Department has arrested two men, each found with an illegal handgun concealed in their waistband.

The arrests occurred on February 13 at 3:40 PM, as detectives from the Special Investigations Section were conducting a surveillance operation in the 700 and 800 blocks of Virginia Avenue, targeting individuals suspected of carrying firearms.

Detectives identified and observed the suspects, Mahrod Barley-Stukes and Kasean Griffin, for some time before apprehending them. Both individuals were discovered to possess a loaded handgun. Additionally, Barley-Stukes was found with over three grams of cocaine.


Detective Eric Evans spearheaded the operation.

Chief James A. Sarkos emphasized the department’s commitment to removing illegal firearms from the streets to safeguard the community and its visitors. Sarkos stated that the department would persist in targeting those who unlawfully carry weapons to ensure public safety.

Mahrod Barley-Stukes, 18, faces several charges, including unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a large capacity magazine, possession of CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substance), intent to distribute CDS, and possession of a weapon during a CDS offense. Kasean Griffin, 24, is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition, and obstruction of justice. Both suspects have been detained at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
