MOORESTOWN, NJ — Representative Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) has aligned with notable figures across the political spectrum to demand the resignation of Sussex County Commissioner Bill Hayden. Hayden faces accusations of stolen valor for falsely claiming to have served as a Navy SEAL and a Marine, allegations confirmed by Navy investigations.

The outcry for Hayden’s resignation extends beyond local concerns, with bipartisan support from Democratic Congressmen Josh Gottheimer and Andy Kim, Republican Congressman Tom Kean, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and both Democratic and Republican party leaders in Sussex County. The allegations against Hayden include fraudulent claims of combat service in the U.S. military and specifically, participation in a Navy SEAL team responsible for the assassination of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar.

Kim emphasized the betrayal of public trust and the dishonor to veterans that Hayden’s actions represent. He pledged to support efforts to replace Hayden with a trustworthy Democrat if the commissioner fails to resign. The call for Hayden’s departure is echoed by a united front of political leaders, showcasing a rare instance of bipartisan agreement on the issue of integrity and honor in public service.
