Congressman Andy Kim Secures Sussex County Endorsement in Senate Primary

STANHOPE, NJ — Congressman Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) has secured the Sussex County Democratic Party’s endorsement in the primary race for the U.S. Senate. During the convention held in Stanhope, Kim emerged victorious over First Lady Tammy Murphy with a vote count of 101-76, marking a 57% to 43% win, alongside a solitary vote for former Newark school board member Larry Hamm.

“This morning was another example of the energy we feel across the state when people get a real choice in their democracy,” Kim said. “We need to have more open conventions with secret ballots where people are free to vote without pressure or intimidation. I can’t thank Sussex County enough for placing their trust in me as we look towards the June 4th primary.”

This victory in Sussex County represents Kim’s fourth consecutive win at party conventions, previously garnering endorsements in Monmouth, Burlington, and Hunterdon Counties. Notably, no votes were received for another candidate, Patricia Campos-Medina, and incumbent Senator Bob Menendez, facing a federal indictment, was absent from the ballot. Kim expressed gratitude for the support and emphasized the importance of open conventions for democratic choice.

The most recent convention deals another blow to First Lady Tammy Murphy and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s radical progressive agendas.
