Porch Pirate Being Sought by Newark Police

NEWARK, NJ — Fritz G. Fragé, the Newark Public Safety Director, has issued a call for public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a recent package theft. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of March 2, at a residence located in the 100 block of Ivy Street.

Responding to the theft, police were informed that the incident was captured on surveillance video at around 6:19 a.m. The footage shows the suspect, a Black male with a beard and mustache, making off with a package from the front porch of the home. He was last seen wearing a red jacket with black sleeves and dark blue ripped jeans, heading eastbound on Ivy Street.
