Edison, NJ – A bold confrontation unfolded on Friday afternoon at the Patel Brothers grocery store in Edison, where a driver successfully fought off three masked men attempting to carjack his luxury SUV. According to Edison Police Chief Thomas Bryan, the incident occurred when the driver, upon parking and opening his vehicle’s door, was suddenly accosted by the trio seeking to forcibly take his vehicle.

The assailants attempted to pull the driver from the SUV and commandeer it. However, the driver managed to escape their grasp and sought refuge inside the grocery store, where he alerted the police. The key fob, securely in the driver’s pocket, prevented the carjackers from starting the vehicle, leading them to flee the scene on foot heading east on Oak Tree Road shortly before 5 p.m.

The Edison Police Department is currently seeking information or surveillance footage that could lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects involved in this attempted carjacking. Community members with any relevant information are urged to contact the Edison Police Department Detective Bureau at 732-248-7543.
