Couple Snatched Purse, Cash from Victim Inside Newark Restaurant

NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Department of Public Safety is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying suspects involved in a recent theft. Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé announced the request following an incident at Mad for Chicken, located on the 200 block of Market Street, on March 16, 2024.

The theft, captured on surveillance footage around 12:31 p.m., involved two primary suspects and an accomplice. The group is seen taking a bag containing $700 from a victim before exiting the restaurant. The first suspect, a male, is noted for his white complexion and slim build, dressed in a white hat, gray shirt with white lettering, blue jeans, and brown shoes. The second suspect, a female with a light complexion and thin build, was seen wearing a dark gray jacket and an olive green dress.

The Newark Police Department urges anyone with information about the suspects or the incident to come forward to aid in their identification and subsequent apprehension.
