JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – Troy Jones, a 58-year-old resident of Jackson Township, was convicted of burglary and theft related to a 2021 incident. The conviction came after a jury trial presided over by Judge Dina M. Vicari, which lasted nearly two weeks. Jones was found to have unlawfully entered a residence and stolen items valued over $500.

The crime took place on December 22, 2021, but it wasn’t until the following day that the theft was discovered. Police were called to a home in the Gardens at Jackson Twenty-One apartment complex after residents reported missing cash and an Apple watch, totaling $4,500 in loss. An investigation identified Jones, an employee of the complex, as the perpetrator. Utilizing a master key, he entered the residence and committed the theft.

Jones, who surrendered to authorities in January 2022, was charged with burglary and theft, leading to his arrest. Following his conviction, he now faces up to five years in New Jersey State Prison, with sentencing scheduled for May 31. The case highlights the significant breaches of trust and security within residential communities.
