ETNA, PA – The Allegheny County Police Department has announced charges against Brittany Garrison, 28, of Etna, for the drowning death of her one-year-old son. The tragic incident occurred on July 13, when emergency services were alerted to an unresponsive child in the 30 block of Sycamore Street. Despite immediate lifesaving attempts, the child later died in the hospital on July 27.

The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit, assisted by Etna Police, led the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death. According to police reports, Garrison had taken the child and another sibling for a swim in an above-ground pool at their residence.

Allegedly, she left the toddler unattended in a flotation device while she went inside with the other child. The toddler was later found outside the flotation device, unresponsive.

Following consultations with the District Attorney’s office, Garrison faces charges including involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of children. She was taken into custody and released on a nonmonetary bond after her preliminary arraignment.
