Curb Yourself: Officials Announce New Poop and Carry Policy for Mountain Climbers

Entertainment News

KATHMANDU, NP — As climbers gear up for the upcoming Everest expedition season, a significant change in protocol awaits them. Authorities have introduced a new mandate requiring climbers to remove their faeces from the mountain in biodegradable bags.

This decision aims to address the longstanding issue of pollution from human waste on Everest, which has plagued the mountain for years. The rule will be enforced starting next month, marking a pivotal effort to preserve the pristine nature of the world’s highest peak.

The Pasang Lhamu rural municipality, one of the governing bodies on the Nepalese side of Everest, announced the implementation of this rule as a permanent measure. Mingma Sherpa, the chairman of the municipality, emphasized the importance of this initiative. He stated, “By mandating the use of biodegradable poop bags, we hope to initiate significant positive change and protect this world heritage site from further damage caused by human waste pollution.” This statement underscores the commitment of local authorities to safeguarding the environment of Mount Everest for future generations.
