Kevin Bacon to Cut Loose at High School Prom Where Footloose Was Filed

Entertainment News

Kevin Bacon has announced his plan to attend the final prom at Utah’s Payson High School, the filming location of his renowned movie “Footloose.” The announcement was made to a jubilant assembly of students in the school’s gym. This decision follows a successful student-led #BacontoPayson social media campaign aimed at bringing the actor to their prom. Payson High School, with a rich history including its association with the film, is preparing to relocate after this school year.

The campaign, characterized by student involvement in movie recreations and choreographed videos, sought to draw Bacon’s attention to their cause. During a broadcast on the “Today” show, Bacon expressed his gratitude towards the students for their invitation and highlighted the significance of the film and the high school in his life. Upon revealing his attendance, he was met with overwhelming excitement from the students.

“Footloose,” a film that premiered in 1984 and stars Bacon as a teenager challenging a small town’s ban on dancing, culminates in a memorable prom scene. The actor’s parting words to the students were a fitting echo of the movie’s spirit: “Thank you, guys. Let’s dance.”
