Mother Charged with Murder of Her Two Children

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A woman is facing federal charges for the murder of her two young children at the Isleta Pueblo, with a court appearance marking the beginning of the case.

Mariah Zuni, 32, from Isleta Village, is in temporary custody following her initial court appearance, pending a detention hearing on March 27. The incident, which occurred on March 21, involved the fatal attack on her 5-year-old son and 9-month-old son using a bread knife.

If found guilty of the charges, Zuni could be sentenced to life imprisonment. U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez and FBI Special Agent in Charge Raul Bujanda announced this.


The FBI Albuquerque Field Office is investigating this grim case, with support from the Isleta Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Caitlin L. Dillon is in charge of the prosecution.
