TRENTON, NJ – Governor Phil Murphy has signed a bill reauthorizing the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund (TTF) for another five years, promising billions in funding for statewide transportation improvements.

The renewed TTF will focus on modernizing and maintaining New Jersey’s transportation network, supplementing NJ TRANSIT’s capital funding, and supporting local and county projects to reduce local taxpayer burdens. This initiative is expected to create thousands of union jobs and enhance the state’s economy by improving the infrastructure critical for both residents and businesses.

Governor Murphy highlighted New Jersey’s strategic position in global commerce and emphasized the importance of a reliable transportation system for the state’s economy and quality of life. This legislation aims to ensure the continuous rebuilding and maintenance of New Jersey’s transportation system, creating numerous jobs in the process.

Congressman Frank Pallone and other state officials praised the reauthorization of the TTF as vital for maintaining safe and accessible infrastructure for all New Jerseyans. They also noted the legislation’s significance in supporting the workforce, particularly union members, and pledged ongoing federal support for New Jersey’s infrastructure projects.

The legislation increases funding for NJDOT’s Local Aid programs, enabling more infrastructure projects at the local level. State leaders expressed their commitment to preventing work stoppages and ensuring uninterrupted progress on critical transportation projects, highlighting the TTF’s role in securing a safe, modern, and efficient transportation infrastructure for New Jersey.
