Annapolis Police Blotter, Here’s What’s Happening

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Annapolis Police Department issued a daily report detailing several significant incidents, including a major traffic alert and various criminal activities.

A severe traffic disruption was reported early in the morning on March 26th, urging motorists to avoid the I-695 southeast corridor after the Key Bridge collapsed due to a ship strike. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes such as I-95 or I-895 until further notice.

In a series of incidents leading up to today, the police responded to multiple reports of discharges, thefts, and property destruction:


  • Discharge Incident on Newtowne Drive: On March 20th, at approximately 11:55 pm, officers canvassed the area of the 700 block of Newtowne Drive following reports of gunfire, with no victims or property damage found.
  • Shooting on Copeland Street: A shooting was reported on March 22nd around 6:15 pm, where a bullet penetrated a window in the 1900 block of Copeland Street.
  • Shoplifting at Cherry Grove Avenue: On March 22nd, officers were called to a theft of several cell phones from a store in the 500 block of S. Cherry Grove Avenue around 1:20 pm.
  • Theft on West Street: The morning of March 24th saw a theft of food from a store at the 100 block of West Street. Randy Sorrell Wheeler, born on July 9, 1991, was arrested and charged with theft, false statements, and served with three warrants from Baltimore.
  • Theft from Auto on Monroe Street: A report of theft from a vehicle parked on the 900 block of Monroe Street was made on March 24th. The theft allegedly occurred between March 20th and March 24th.
  • Destruction of Property at Belle Drive: Also, on March 24th, a basketball hoop’s glass backboard at the Annapolis Walk Community Center on the 1700 block of Belle Drive was reported damaged, suspected to have been shot out.
