D.C. Police Arrest 34-Year-Old in Connection with Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC – A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that took place in Northeast D.C. in late February, according to the Fifth District detectives of the D.C. Metro Police Department.

The incident occurred in the early morning of February 28 and involved a victim walking on the 1300 block of Okie Street. He was approached by a suspect who, after exiting the passenger side of a car and demanding property, shot the victim when he attempted to flee. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was later hospitalized.

Following an investigation, on March 27, Jaymario Kirksey, 34, from Northeast, was arrested. Kirksey faces charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Additionally, he was found with a gun and in a stolen vehicle at the time of his arrest, leading to further charges of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Carrying a Pistol Without a License.
