Man Arrested for Child Sexual Abuse in Southeast D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC – A man has been apprehended by the D.C. Metro Police Department’s Youth and Family Services Division for first-degree child sexual abuse in Southeast Washington.

On March 20, Omar Ransom, 22, from Southeast, D.C., unlawfully entered a residence on the 1400 block of Smith Place, engaging in non-consensual sexual acts with a minor before escaping the scene.

Following an investigation, Ransom was arrested on March 27 under a DC Superior Court warrant by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. He faces charges of First Degree Child Sexual Abuse, Burglary One, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The investigation revealed a prior relationship between the suspect and the victim’s mother.
