Toms River Marina Garage Damaged by Fire

TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Firefighters from multiple Toms River fire companies responded to a structure fire at a repair garage located at 120 Kettle Creek Road in the Silverton section of the township earlier today.

The fire, reported around 10:30 a.m., drew units from the Silverton Volunteer Fire Company, Pleasant Plains Fire Department, and East Dover Fire Company. Upon arrival, crews confirmed a working fire inside one of the repair garages on the property. The incident was quickly upgraded to a second alarm, summoning additional resources from across Toms River.

The building’s automatic sprinkler system helped contain the fire until the first units arrived and extinguished the remaining flames. Firefighters worked for approximately two hours, ventilating the building and ensuring the fire was fully extinguished. Fire companies from Island Heights and Breton Woods provided coverage during the response.

Two employees sustained minor injuries, with one being transported by Toms River EMS for further evaluation.

Due to the conditions found on-site, the Berkeley Emergency Response Team’s Hazmat Unit and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection were notified.

The fire is currently under investigation by Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention inspectors and the Toms River Police Department. Initial findings suggest the fire was accidental. The building was declared unsafe by the Toms River Building Department.
