Teen killed, another injured in double shooting outside Brooklyn home

The deadly shooting marks another instance of gun violence in the neighborhood.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — An 18-year-old man was fatally shot and a young woman injured in a shooting outside a New Jersey Avenue residence late Saturday night, according to police.

Officers from the 75th Precinct responded to a 911 call of shots fired at approximately 9:57 p.m. in front of 812 New Jersey Ave. Upon arrival, they discovered two victims — a male with a gunshot wound to the torso and a female with a gunshot wound to her right arm.

The male victim was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where he was later pronounced dead. The female victim, also 18, was taken to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center and is reported to be in stable condition, authorities said.

The NYPD has not released the name of the deceased, pending family notification. No arrests have been made at this time.

“The investigation remains ongoing,” police stated Sunday.

Ongoing investigation in East New York

The shooting occurred within the boundaries of the 75th Precinct, which covers the East New York section of Brooklyn. Detectives were seen canvassing the area Saturday night into early Sunday, reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing potential witnesses.

Police have not disclosed a possible motive or whether the victims were known to each other or the suspect. No firearm was recovered at the scene.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the shooting to come forward, but as of Sunday afternoon, no persons of interest had been publicly identified.

The block where the shooting occurred has experienced previous incidents of gun violence, though police have not linked Saturday’s shooting to any prior events in the area.
