Armed robbery reported in Salem Center parking lot in Bear

BEAR, Del. — Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Monday afternoon in the parking lot of the Salem Center on Pulaski Highway.

At approximately 2:15 p.m., troopers were called to 1693 Pulaski Highway in response to a reported robbery. According to a preliminary investigation, the victim became involved in an argument with one male suspect when a second male suspect approached and displayed a handgun.

Investigators say the two suspects then worked together to steal the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene in it. Police have not disclosed the make or model of the stolen vehicle.

The suspects are described only as unknown males. As of Tuesday, authorities have not released any surveillance footage or still images from the scene.

“The 2 suspects then conspired to take the victim’s vehicle, and fled from the shopping center in the stolen vehicle,” police said in a statement.

Investigation ongoing

State police have not reported any injuries related to the incident. It is unclear whether the victim knew the suspects or if the robbery was a targeted act.

No arrests have been made, and authorities have not indicated if the stolen vehicle has been recovered.

The Delaware State Police said the investigation is ongoing and asked anyone with information about the incident to contact Troop 2 or Delaware Crime Stoppers.

No further details were immediately available.
