WASHINGTON, DC — The Department of Justice has issued more than 20 subpoenas to doctors and medical clinics involved in performing transgender medical procedures on children, the agency announced Tuesday.
The subpoenas are part of an ongoing federal investigation into potential healthcare fraud, false statements, and other violations. Officials did not release the names of the individuals or organizations under scrutiny.
The Department indicated that the focus of the probe includes possible misuse of federal funds and misrepresentations related to medical billing and treatment practices.
“Medical professionals and organizations that mutilated children in the service of a warped ideology will be held accountable by this Department of Justice,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi.
The DOJ’s action marks a broadening of federal oversight into medical practices involving gender-related care for minors. It is not yet known whether the subpoenas will lead to criminal charges or civil enforcement.
The investigation remains ongoing, with the Department declining further comment on the scope or timeline of its inquiry.
