DC man blindsided with tire iron in broad daylight

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A man was hit from behind with a tire iron in broad daylight earlier this month in Northeast Washington, and now investigators are asking for help identifying the attacker, who was caught on surveillance video.

The assault occurred on Thursday, July 3, around 1:48 p.m. behind the 1300 block of Florida Avenue NE. First District officers arrived to find a man who had been struck by a male suspect wielding a tire iron. The assailant fled the scene immediately after the attack.

DC Fire and EMS responded and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Video footage of the suspect has been released and shows him in the vicinity before and after the incident. The full video can be viewed at: https://youtu.be/Kvo1k1fin_s
