Georgia toddler hospitalized after violent incident at church daycare on his first day
BAINBRIDGE, GA — A Georgia family is demanding answers and justice after their 1-year-old son suffered serious injuries on his first day at a church-affiliated daycare, prompting a criminal investigation and the arrest of a daycare worker captured on surveillance footage.
Cory and Cassie Weeks said their youngest son Clay was enrolled at Little Blessings, a childcare facility run by a church in Bainbridge, for the very first time on Monday. By the end of the day, the toddler had been rushed to the emergency room with visible injuries that the parents say were the result of “acts of violence” committed against him inside the facility.
While details about the nature of the injuries have not been publicly confirmed by law enforcement, the child’s condition was serious enough to warrant immediate medical attention and involvement from Bainbridge Public Safety (BPS) officers.
The family stated that they were initially told by daycare staff that another child was responsible, allegedly using a plastic toy. However, video footage reviewed by the parents and police reportedly contradicted that explanation, leading to the arrest of a daycare employee. Authorities have not yet released the name of the suspect, but say the investigation remains active.
“This was not her first time,” the family said in a public statement, expressing concern that the daycare worker may have a history of abuse. They also criticized the response from the church’s leadership while reviewing footage of the incident, calling it dismissive.
According to the Weeks family, the emergency medical staff and first responders at Memorial Hospital and Manor provided exceptional care and ensured that the incident was fully documented for investigative purposes.
Little Blessings has not publicly commented on the incident as of Thursday. The facility’s licensing and compliance history are now under review by local and state authorities.
The child is recovering, but the family has vowed to pursue justice and ensure full accountability for what happened inside the daycare on Clay’s first day.
