22-year-old passenger killed in Upper Marlboro car crash, investigation ongoing

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — A fatal crash in Upper Marlboro claimed the life of a 22-year-old passenger Friday afternoon, according to authorities.

The collision occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Ritchie Marlboro Road and Sansbury Road. Officers and emergency personnel responded to the scene and found two vehicles involved in the crash.

The passenger, identified as David Romero of Upper Marlboro, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The drivers of the two vehicles sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

According to a preliminary investigation by the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit, the two vehicles collided at the intersection, but the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
