23-year-old fatally shot in Southeast D.C. neighborhood

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place Monday morning in Southeast D.C., where a 23-year-old man was found dead.

Officers responded to the area of 16th Street and Kentucky Avenue, Southeast, at approximately 9:44 a.m. on Oct. 21 after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found Jakele Allen, of Northeast, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Allen was unresponsive and later pronounced dead at the scene by D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services.

The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking information from the public regarding the shooting. Anyone with knowledge of the incident is urged not to approach the suspect but to contact police at (202) 727-9099 or send a tip to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the crime.
