BALTIMORE, Md. — A 3-year-old girl died Saturday evening after a reported drowning on Burbank Drive, with emergency crews unable to save her after rushing her to a hospital, officials said.

Officers from the Baltimore County Police Department’s 2nd District and Fire Rescue personnel responded around 5:31 p.m. on April 18 to the 10900 block of Burbank Drive following a report of a possible child drowning.

Emergency response ends in tragedy

When first responders arrived, they located the child and immediately transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite those efforts, she was later pronounced dead, according to officials.

Authorities have not released the child’s identity.

Medical examiner to determine cause of death

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Investigators have indicated that, at this stage, no foul play is suspected. The case remains under active investigation as officials work to confirm the circumstances surrounding the incident.
